Repro Uncensored at Miami Basel
Repro Uncensored is activating throughout Miami Basel with partners across the city, including community gatherings, art interventions, and movement visibility work.
This week at Miami Basel, Repro Uncensored, SisterSong, and the Women’s Emergency Network brought Southern organizers, abortion funds, storytellers, and community leaders together for a grounding conversation on what it means to survive and care for one another under escalating reproductive bans.
Hosted at VARA on December 7, the gathering created a space for honesty, shared realities, and collective strategy. Southern Birth Justice also brought their mobile abortion clinic, offering a real example of community-led care and access. Speakers and participants reflected on the shifting landscape of abortion access in Florida, the pressures facing mutual aid networks across the South, and the growing impact of digital suppression on SRHR information. Partners including Bans Off Miami, Justice Advocacy Network, Southern Birth Justice, FEMINIST, and the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, contributed essential perspectives from their daily work on the ground.
Southern Birth Justice is bringing their mobile clinic to our event!
The room held a mix of grief, clarity, determination, and joy. People spoke about what they are witnessing every day, from criminalization patterns to the ways community care fills the gaps left by policy failures. Drinks and food helped anchor the evening and reminded us that connection is part of how movements endure. Taking up space during Miami Art Week was an intentional act of visibility and refusal, an affirmation that Southern communities will continue to support one another even in hostile environments.
This gathering reaffirmed that community care is not an accessory to the work. It is the work. It is how people stay safe, informed, supported, and connected when institutions fail to protect them.
